ENERGY HOSTAGES

We have recently read where at the last OPEC meeting this week, the oil crisis in the U.S was declared to be one of our own making. This "blows my mind!" We are customers, users and while our oil appetite is huge, the sellers (Opec) should be delighted. (Secretly they are)

The truth is we have no friends among this cartel. The leading producers, Saudi Arabia, Russia and even Venezuela do not consider us their "beloved friends." They could sway the others to increase production but this would only reduce the price of oil and they are laughing all the way to the bank. Did you know that Russia is the second largest oil producer? How did we end up with Geography that produces only corn, beautiful flowers and one regime after another that has given us only lip service about developing alternative fuel sources. We can put men on the moon, conquer many dreaded illnesses, develop weapons that would boggle an enemies mind, but cannot develop something this country needs so badly.

Ok, comes the Deficit Reduction Party (DRP) Among the important campaign promises (See our platform), we have committed ourselves to developing alternatives to this crisis. We no longer wish to be held hostage. Offering millions in rewards to those who can develop a fuel efficient, plentiful, low cost alternative will redirect our scientists to divert attention from finding effective laxatives to discovering that which this nation is so dependent on. If fuel costs go down, the cost of living follows.

Do you have an alternative to voting for another "Lip Service" regime? You sure do, the DRP party. Vote often!
